Tyndall is the Queen of the Historical Romance genre. Suzie Housley, Romance Junkies

Can a woman run a business and provide for a family in Jamaica in1692? Juliana Dutton intends to find out. With an ailing father and a wastrel for a brother, she has no choice. But she must keep her activities a secret or face destitution. When a nosey suitor threatens everything, she spurns him and instead becomes engaged to the town idiot, Lord Munthrope. But is he an idiot? The more her problems push her closer to the man, the more she realizes he is not who he seems.

Alexander Hyde, the Pirate Earl, is the most feared pirate in the Caribbean—feared, successful, wealthy, handsome, and bored, so terribly bored. When an unexpected event allows him to get close to Juliana, a woman he has loved from afar for years, he takes it. But leading a double life causes more problems than it’s worth. A restless crew and a long-time enemy out to capture and hang Alex, put Juliana in grave danger.

As tremors rock the city of Port Royal, Juliana’s faith in God is equally shaken. Not only have things gotten worse, but she is confused by her feelings for both Munthrope and the Pirate Earl. Deception, intrigue, mutiny, death, betrayal, all attempt to tear the lovers apart. But the final blow comes when a massive earthquake strikes the city and threatens to sink it into the sea.

Well, because when it comes to historical romance, this woman is absolutely one of the best in the Christian market today, a master at flesh-and-blood characters, pulse-pounding romance, and breathless plots that will starve you of sleep, but nourish your soul. And don’t even get me started on pirates—this woman is queen!! Julie Lessman, award winning author

I liked that it was very well written, with time appropriate language and a good plot. I also really enjoyed the romance, which has good tension but is clean. Conjunxpigra, reviewer

The Ransom Legacy of the King Pirates Book 4 edition by MaryLu Tyndall Religion Spirituality eBooks

Instead of reading The Ransom, I decided to listen to this entertaining novel on audio book. The narrator did such a nice job with the reading of this story. She used different voices for the various characters and I thoroughly enjoyed imagining the different people who were speaking.

This was such a fun story! I loved getting to know Juliana, the Pirate Earl, Rowan, Lord Munthrope, and the devious Captain Nichols. Wow! This book is just packed with interesting people, worrisome situations, lighthearted humor, danger, and love.

Juliana was a wonderful character, even though she sometimes made choices that put her in situations that she had to be rescued from. Whether it was the flamboyant Lord Munthrope or the dashing Pirate Earl, or the powerful Captain Nichols, Juliana had to juggle the attentions of several men.

I loved this story and all of the tension that was running through it, both romantic tension and financial tension. The story took wonderful twists and turns that kept me captivated from start to finish. I wasn’t ready for the story to end and recommend it to those who love romantic adventure stories.

The Ransom Legacy of the King Pirates Book 4 edition by MaryLu Tyndall Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

A profound tale of a young woman striving to survive, abandoned orphans, earthquakes, and a preacher-turned-pirate. I found myself captivated by Marylu Tyndall's new book, and went on an adventure not to be forgotten.
The adventure of Juliana Dutton, who strives to keep her ill father's business running while her lazy brother gets drunk and gambles away their money. She helps some forsaken orphans and a friend who has fallen into despair; and wonders why God is letting so many bad things happen to her when she's trying to do good.
The adventure of the son of missionary Captain Merrick, Alexander. Alex no longer believes in the God his father taught him about... and turns to piracy as an escape from boredom, becoming the feared Pirate Earl. He runs a double life, seeking Juliana in both, and also trying to keep outwitting an angry naval officer.
I enjoyed the adventurous, humorous, sweetness of The Ransom. Oh, the hilarity! Some were so funny and yet so touching all at once. Loved that. Pirates are always fun too. Especially the ones who are redeemed by God's grace.
There were a few things I could have done without... The rough language for one. I'd rather not have that in my books. But there was no taking God's name in vain or anything, since this is a Christian book... and a deeply spiritual one at that! Also, I was kind of disappointed to hear that Captain Merrick and Charlisse (from the previous books in this series), would leave their young son so often. There were some details and scenarios I could have done without...(if you know me!)
But overall, a lovely story. I appreciate Marylu Tyndall's sensitivity for spiritual things (and how she flawlessly incorporates them into her stories). I adore her deep romances. Oh, I love the adventurous pirate tales! Hoping to read more from this series!!
Or just more from Marylu Tyndall at all. I hear she's coming out with a mermaid tale next...! )
When I heard MaryLu Tyndall was setting sail for the Caribbean again with another story from the Legacy of the Kings Pirates Series I knew I wanted to be onboard. I wanted to feel the wind in my face and to smell the salt laden air and enjoy the tale of the most revered Pirates that ever sailed. Alexander Hyde, son of the infamous Captain Edmund Merrick Hyde, is one of those pirates. Just hearing the name of The Pirate Earl spoken strikes fear in even the most depraved pirate; but things would be a lot different if they knew the secret life he leads when he's on land.

After the passing of her dear mother Juliana Dutton was left in the care of a father that has never had a kind word for her and a twin brother that only cares for himself. Some days it seems even God doesn't remember her so she works hard at doing good deeds such as visiting the children in the rundown orphanage and visiting a friend that has fallen from grace in the hopes God will bless her. It was during one of those visits to the Cat and Fiddle Tavern, ~gasp~ that Juliana encountered The Pirate Earl and had it not been for him she would not have survived the night!! The moment their eyes met Juliana knew she was in trouble, so fierce was her attraction to him. Her mind tells her she must not even think of him but her heart feels otherwise and despite telling him to leave her alone it seems this daunting Pirate has decided he should be her protector.

When her father falls ill Juliana must secretly take over the family business and all seems well until a friend of her brother starts to pressure her into accepting his offer of marriage. Knowing she could never marry him, Juliana decides instead to enter into a feigned engagement to Lord Munthrope a lovable bozo that despite his silly antics seems to be truly devoted to Juliana. Even though she has never seen his face sans the white face powder there seems to be something about him that Juliana finds endearing. Could following through with this engagement be the way she will finally rid her heart and mind of the infamous Pirate Earl?

I have never read one of Ms. Tyndall's books and been disappointed. They are filled with adventure, excitement and a beautiful love story but at the center of all of that you will find a thread of the Gospel that is woven throughout that ties it all together. You will never put down one of her books without being reminded of God's love for us, his creation. The Ransom was beautifully written, delightfully engaging with awe inspiring descriptions, especially the one describing the Pirate Earl! I can't believe I survived that one without melting into a puddle! Reading this was like going on the adventure of a lifetime. If you like Pirates, (especially one with a heart of gold) and Swashbuckling Romance then this book is for you! Thank you MaryLu for another exciting voyage and I anxiously await your command to Hoist the Colors on your next adventure!!
