This was the first book I read by Anne Patrick. Which began a deep love for her writing, having all of her books. None have disappointed, you will read and want to reread them. In this we meet Sadie, who thru tragedy, chose her career. Another accident, and another choice of being a fire investigator was born. She misses the family she had while being a firefighter, but this keeps her close to them. During a call out she meets the police chief Quinn. He's intrigued by her amber eyes, and how thorough she is at working the murder scene. Being invited to the fire chiefs home, he again is intrigued by the hobby she has., and that she is his niece. Of not only having a VW bug, but restoring it. We have a beginning murder and a beginning romance that will kept you intrigued to the end. While wanting to read more by her.Got the audio of this, and was delighted of how you captured the depth of what she goes into with the details

I love the fact that Anne Patrick wrote a story about the truly unsung heroes that are fire investigators. We all are aware of military, fire, and police that are called heroes, but never do you hear about the fire investigators. It was a great story and well as a "clean" read. Thank you for your book, Anne Patrick!
This was a nail biter of a book.I love Romantic suspense and Anne delivered.
Sadie ,a fire investigator and Quinn.the police have an attraction but long distance and Sadie's anger at God makes it difficult.
We see God work in this book and we find redemption .
I look forward to reading more books by this author.
The plot of this book could be said to be grace at work through, and on, imperfection. So it applies to each of us and as such invites us to consider ourselves. I like writing that is more than semi-mindless entertainment. I want to be taught and caused to think. This book does that and is of such a higher caliber than pulp mill stuff ground out to make a buck. Somewhere in these pages you may just see yourself.
Fire and Ash is a delight! It contains all the elements I love in a Christian suspense book --- realistic characters, expert plotting, twists and turns, clean romance with God interwoven thoroughout the story. As I have noted in previous reviews, Anne Patrick is an excellent story-teller. She researched this book very well. Fire and Ash is a major page-turner. I couldn't stop reading until I found out if Sadie fully recovered but then I didn't want the book to end! Ms. Patrick has written another MUST READ!
This was the first book I have read by this author. I really did enjoy it and actually read it through two times in w two. The falling in love part of the story was totally predictable. However, the mystery crime result was a surprise. In the beginning, Sadie mentions that there is only a year difference between her and Liz, when Quinn meets Liz, the book says that he thinks there are a few years difference. Picky, I guess but I am a literal thinker.
I obtained this free e-book from and I am voluntarily writing a review. Sadie as a child was the only survivor of a house fire that killed her entire family. Now as an adult she is a state investigator with the fire department specializing in arson investigations. She currently is in her home town investigating arson that was used to cover a murder and working with the new Chief of Police Quinn.
Love, love, love this book. Sadie is a fire investigator and returns home to investigate a suspicious fire and death. Quinn is the chief of police in Emerald Point and he works closely with Sadie to solve the mystery. Someone is out to stop Sadie but it's not who they suspect. This book had me engrossed from the get go.
